The South Coast Conference announced this morning that due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, traditional fall sports have been cancelled for 2020-2021.

The 2019 Rio Hondo College men’s water polo season came to an end following a pair of defeats at the South Coast Conference Championship tournament at Cerritos College.

Sophomore Travis Wishner scored six goals to lead Rio Hondo College in a 24-10 South Coast Conference loss to visiting Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday.

Daniel Mendez and Travis Wisher both totaled six goals each as the Rio Hondo College men’s water polo team went a perfect 2 for 2 in a pair of non-conference games on Friday at the Cerritos College mini tournament in nearby Norwalk.

Pablo Segura, Jacob Avila, and Matthew Alvarez all scored three goals each to lead the Rio Hondo College men’s water polo team to a 13-12 win over the visiting El Camino College Warriors on Wednesday in both teams’ season as well as South Coast Conference opener.

Thanks to a 3-3 record in South Coast Conference play, the Rio Hondo College men's water polo team has earned the No. 4 seed for this week's SCC Championship tournament. The newly-formatted two-day event runs Friday-Saturday (Nov. 4-5) and is being held at Pasadena City College.
