Rio Hondo College kept its hopes alive for a Foothill Conference championship thanks to a 5-2 win over College of the Desert on Tuesday at The Jungle.

Rio Hondo College surged to its eighth straight win on Saturday after wrapping up a sweep of Cerro Coso College. The Roadrunners closed out the three-game Foothill Conference series sweep with an impressive 16-4 victory at Cerro Coso.

Rio Hondo College totaled a season-high 20 hits but had to rally late to pull out an 11-4 Foothill Conference win at Victor Valley College on Tuesday. The win improved the Roadrunners to 9-10 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

A big five-run, second-inning proved to be more than enough offense for Rio Hondo College as the Roadrunners won their fourth straight game. On Thursday, Rio Hondo defeated visiting San Bernardino Valley College by a final score of 7-2 in a Foothill Conference game at RHC.

Danny Marquez smacked a ninth-inning, lead-off double and came in to score the game-winning run on a sacrifice bunt and error off the bat of David Ornales as the Roadrunners picked up a 3-2 non-conference win over visiting Pasadena City College on Saturday in Whittier.

Sophomore starting pitcher Joe Wills allowed one run over eight innings to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 7-3 non-conference win at San Diego Mesa College on Thursday. After losing its first five games to open the season, the Roadrunners have now won three of their last five to improve to 3-7 overall.

Rio Hondo College is still in search of its first win of the season after suffering a 7-6 non-conference loss at Citrus College on Friday. The Roadrunners will play their third straight game in three days on Saturday when they host College of the Canyons at 12 p.m.
