Rio Hondo College women's volleyball head coach Teddi Esko has announced that four members of her program will continue their careers at four-year universities.

The Rio Hondo College women’s volleyball team put up a fight but couldn’t get past No. 3 state-ranked Pasadena City College. On Wednesday, the Roadrunners stretched the Lancers to four sets before falling by scores of 25-8, 25-19, 27-29, 20-25 in Pasadena.

Rio Hondo and Cerritos College battled for a second time this season on Friday. And for the second time, the match would need five sets to be decided. Facing a possible sweep at the hands of the Falcons, the Roadrunners trailed two sets to none and went on to win the final three to pull out an impressive 3-2 victory.

On Friday, the Roadrunners extended No. 7 state-ranked Santa Barbara City College to five sets, ultimately falling by scores of 25-10, 24-26, 25-20, 25-27, 15-5.

The Rio Hondo College women’s volleyball team may have hit a turning point. On Thursday, the Roadrunners fell behind early dropping the first two sets at San Diego City College. But Rio Hondo never gave up and rallied to win the final three sets and take the match victory in five (15-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-8).

Rio Hondo College bounced back from a pair of opening-day losses by cruising to a 3-0 win over visiting Antelope Valley College on Wednesday in its home opener.

It wasn’t the start Rio Hondo College head coach Teddi Esko was hoping for, but the Roadrunners were competitive throughout in a pair of opening day-losses at Orange Coast College.
