Rio Hondo College women's volleyball head coach Teddi Esko has announced that four members of her program will continue their careers at four-year universities.

Ariel Garcia has received an athletic scholarship to compete on the beach volleyball team at Hope International University in Fullerton while Desteny Hernandez (Long Beach State), Ariadna Martinez (Long Beach State), and Linda Saucedo (Cal State Fullerton) will all transfer to continue in academics.

Garcia will major in sociology at Hope International, Martinez and Saucedo will study psychology, and Hernandez will major in criminal justice.

The four were honored on Wednesday at a ceremony on campus in front of their teammates, family, and friends.

"I'm very proud of Dee, Linda, Ari and Ariel," said Esko. "They worked hard over the past two years to academically progress and stay the course. Their perseverance through the pandemic was impressive.  Training and taking courses online were challenging and they powered through it with a positive mindset and strong drive to achieve their goals. Their future is bright."
