Softball: Roadrunners no-hit Compton, cruise to 10-0 win

Sophomore Madeline Peralta and freshman Yaritza Lechuga combined for a no hitter while sophomore Kelly Monroy and freshman Ashley Bravo drove in two runs each to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 10-0 South Coast Conference at Compton College on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners improved to 2-0 in the SCC and 5-4 overall.

Peralta was perfect over her four innings, striking out six without a hit or a walk. Lechuga finished the five-inning game with a flawless fifth, striking out two.

Rio Hondo scored in every inning, getting two runs in the first and second innings, three in the third, two more in the fourth, and a final run in the fifth.

Monroy went 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI while Bravo was 1 for 2 with a double, 2 RBI, and a pair of runs. Kaylie Cervantes went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and a RBI while Azucena Enriquez was perfect at the plate, going 2 for 2 with a RBI.

Rio Hondo returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 13) when it hosts East Los Angeles College in a South Coast Conference game.
