Men's Soccer: RHC extends unbeaten streak to six with rout of Moorpark

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Rio Hondo College exploded to score four second-half goals to earn a 4-0 non-conference victory over visiting Moorpark College in Whittier on Tuesday. The win extended Rio Hondo's unbeaten streak to six games (4 wins, 2 ties) and improved the Roadrunners' record to 5-1-2 overall.

Four different Roadrunners scored in the rout. Christian Bernabe broke the scoreless deadlock with his goal in the 55th minute off the assist from Fernando Guerrero. Jose Maderos made it 2-0 thanks to his score in the 75th minute with the assist from Alejandro Luna.

Luna got in on the scoring with his goal in the 80th minute (Daniel Virgen assist) and Virgen closed out the win with his goal in the 85th (Jacob De La Peza assist).

Jose Paredes posted five saves in goal for Rio Hondo to help earn the squad's third consecutive shutout and fifth of the season.

Rio Hondo returns to action on Friday (Sep. 22) when the Roadrunners will host Santa Monica College in a 5 p.m. non-conference game. The SMC match is the third of four straight home games for Rio Hondo.
