WHITTIER --- The 2021-22 Rio Hondo College women’s basketball season came to a close following a 54-47 loss to visiting Cerritos College in an opening-round game of the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Tuesday.
The postseason run for the Rio Hondo College women’s basketball team officially begins this week as the Roadrunners were named the No. 15 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. Rio Hondo will host No. 18 Cerritos College in a Round 1 game on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m.

Trailing 44-28 to open the fourth quarter, Rio Hondo College finally came alive against Citrus College on Friday. The Roadrunners nearly matched their scoring output for three quarters over the final 10 minutes, putting up 25 points. But Rio Hondo couldn’t complete the comeback and fell by a final score of 56-53 in a game played at El Camino College in Torrance.
