Women’s Water Polo: Roadrunners edged 7-5 by Chaffey at home
WHITTIER – Freshmen Melissa Hernandez and Janness Bahn scored two goals each to lead Rio Hondo College in a narrow 7-5 South Coast Conference loss to visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.
The Roadrunners are still in search of their first conference victory and dropped to 0-4 in SCC play. Rio Hondo is 1-13 overall.
Rio Hondo got off to a good start, as Hernandez tallied both her goals in the first quarter. The two teams were tied 2-2 after the first period but Chaffey went into halftime with a slim 4-3 lead it wouldn't give up.

Despite the loss, goalie Valentina Orozco totaled 18 saves in a strong effort for Rio Hondo.
The Roadrunners return to the pool next Wednesday (Oct. 12) when they host Mt. San Antonio College in a 3 p.m. conference game.
