Roadrunners cruise to sweep of LA City
WHITTIER – Katie Noell posted 10 kills and 4 blocks while Hailey Hammond added 8 kills to help lead the Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Los Angeles City College on Friday.
The South Coast Conference victory snapped a five-match losing streak for the Roadrunners. Rio Hondo improved to 2-12 and 1-1 in the SCC.
Rio Hondo dominated LA City on its way to the 25-13, 25-11, 25-16 win. Noell and Hammond had efficient nights on the attack. Noell hit .471 connecting on 10 of 17 attempts with 2 errors. Hammond was even better at .571, going 8 for 14 with no errors.
Megan Liggins led the Rio Hondo defense with 10 digs. She also served up a team-high 7 aces. Osyris Roldan put together a solid all-around match with 8 digs, 6 aces, and 3 kills. Angel Luna paced the offense with 21 assists.
Rio Hondo is back in action on Wednesday (Oct. 16) when the Roadrunners travel to Pasadena City College for a SCC match.
