Women’s Volleyball: Roadrunners hold steady at No. 15, sweep LA Harbor

WILMINGTON – The Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team continued its impressive run through the South Coast Conference schedule. On Wednesday night, the No. 15 state-ranked Roadrunners surged to their seventh straight victory, a 25-17, 25-8, 25-21 sweep at Los Angeles Harbor College.

With the win, Rio Hondo kept pace with unbeaten Long Beach City College on top of the conference standings at 6-0. The Roadrunners are now 11-3 overall and are once against ranked No. 15 in this week's California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Poll.

"I'm very proud of what we have accomplished at this stage in our season," said Rio Hondo head coach Teddi Esko. "I'm confident this team will continue to be successful."

In the LA Harbor victory, Maria Bejines paced the offense with 7 kills while hitting .312 for the match. She also had a team-high 9 digs and 4 aces.

Jasmin Miramontes posted 4 kills, 7 digs, and a pair of blocks while Carly Kejmar totaled 11 assists and 7 digs to contribute to the win.

"This team is so goal oriented and has been training hard to execute our system on game days," Esko said. "We have strong depth in each position, no matter who's on the court, our team is finding success."

Rio Hondo will put its winning streak on the line when the Roadrunners travel to El Camino College on Friday (Oct. 6) for a 6 p.m. match.
