Women's Volleyball: Rio Hondo's Maria Bejines named State Player of the Week

Fresno City College sophomore outside hitter Druegan Davis and Rio Hondo letterman outside hitter Maria Bejines are the Week #4 selections as CCCWVCA State Players of the Week.

Davis, a 6-foot student-athlete out of Hanford High, won for the second time in her career as she was the Week #10 selection as North top performer as a freshman. She went on to be named All-NorCal Region as an opposite.

Last week, Davis hit an outstanding .462 in sweeps over Folsom Lake and West Hills Lemoore. She totaled 11 kills in each victory and has been consistent in averaging 3.6 kills per set with a .286 overall hitting percentage.

Bejines, a 5-9 performer from South El Monte HS, had a monster week to grab the SoCal POTW award as she helped Rio Hondo open South Coast Conference play with victories over Cerritos and Pasadena CC. She is a returning All-SCC First Team player.

Bejines totaled 40 kills and was at her best in the Roadrunners' upset over PCC when she blasted a season-high 22 kills with just two errors in 53 attempts (.377) while adding premium defense on 25 digs. She leads RHC in kills, digs, and aces through 10 matches.
