Women’s Volleyball: Roadrunners waste little time in sweep of East LA

Sophomore Danielle Betancourt and freshman Alina Velo both totaled six kills each to help lead the Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of visiting East Los Angeles College on Friday night.

The Roadrunners won the South Coast Conference match by scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-16 to improve to 11-8 overall and 5-5 in the SCC.

Nicole Vasquez, Katherina O'Brien, and Sierra Smethurst all added five kills each in a balanced Rio Hondo attack. Vasquez also led the Roadrunners with 24 assists and six aces. On defense, Janine Coria had six digs while Aliah Trujillo had five in a quiet night on the back line.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 30) when they travel to El Camino College for a 6 p.m. SCC match.
