Roadrunners wrap up 2025 season at 3C2A State Championships
The 2025 Rio Hondo College women's tennis season officially came to a close on Thursday at the 3C2A State Championships.
The Roadrunners were well-represented at the state tournament as all three of its doubles squads qualified for the event. Making the trip to state were the duos of Lana Young & Abigail Madrigal, Sophia Chavez & Makayla Glover, and Kaitlyn Dominguez & Jennifer Diaz.
Rio Hondo closed out the regular season by finishing tied for second place in the final South Coast Conference standings. The Roadrunners went 3-3 in conference matches and ended with a 3-7 overall record.
The Roadrunners claimed four total All-South Coast Conference postseason awards. The duo of Young & Madrigal earned first-team All-SCC doubles honors while Young, Madrigal, and Chavez were selected second-team all-conference in singles.
The Rio Hondo women's tennis team is led by long-time head coach Karen Unger.
