Roadrunners advance 4 to State Championships; earn 4 All-SCC honors
WALNUT – A pair of Rio Hondo College doubles teams will represent the Roadrunners at the upcoming 3C2A State Championships after solid performances at the South Coast Conference Championships. The SCC tournament was held April 1 & 4 at Mt. San Antonio College.
Making the trip to the prestigious Ojai Valley Tennis Club for the state tournament are the doubles squads of Lana Young & Abigail Madrigal and Sophia Chavez & Makayla Glover. Both duos earned their spots by reaching the South Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.
The 2025 3C2A State Championships get underway on April 24 in Ojai.
ALL-SOUTH COAST CONFERENCE HONORS
The 2025 All-South Coast Conference women's tennis team was also recently announced. Rio Hondo claimed three spots on the singles list as well as one doubles honor.
Second-team singles accolades went to Abigail Madrigal, Lana Young, and Sophia Chavez. In doubles, the duo of Young & Madrigal earned first-team honors.
Rio Hondo closed out the 2025 regular season with a 3-7 overall record and finished tied for second place in the final South Coast Conference standings at 3-3.
