Women’s Tennis: Short-handed Roadrunners play Fullerton to 3-3 tie

FULLERTON --- Playing with just a squad of four players, Rio Hondo College was able to earn a 3-3 draw at Fullerton College on Tuesday.

Rio Hondo head coach Karen Unger was proud of the way her players competed.

"Everyone had to move up a spot and we had two new doubles teams," Unger said. "Nikki (Nicole Lule) had a tough second set but played awesome. Nadia (Santoyo) played hard and Ocean (Velasquez) came close."

The Roadrunners got wins from the No. 1 doubles team of Lule and Velasques (8-4), Lule at No. 1 singles (6-1, 7-5), and Santoyo at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-0).

The Roadrunners, now 1-1-1 overall, are back in action on Feb. 15 when they will host Mt. San Jacinto College in a 2 p.m. South Coast Conference match.
