The No. 14 nationally-ranked Rio Hondo College women's soccer team continued its unbeaten run to start the 2018 season thanks to a 2-0 win at East Los Angeles College on Tuesday in both teams' South Coast Conference opener.

Rio Hondo improved to 4-0-3 overall and 1-0 in SCC play. The Roadrunners moved up a spot and are ranked No. 14 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division III national rankings.

The Roadrunners scored a pair of first-half goals while the goalkeeper Izella Delgadillo and the Rio Hondo defense played solid in posting the squad's third straight shutout and fifth of the season.

Zharria Ramirez got Rio Hondo on the board first with her goal off the double assist from Karina Banda and Flor Suarez. Serina Vargas added an insurance goal thanks to the assist from Danielle Moore.

The Roadrunners will look to stay unbeaten when they return to play on Friday (Sep. 28) with a 4 p.m. home match vs. Mt. San Antonio College.
