Women’s Soccer: Roadrunners win fourth straight, edge PCC 1-0

Sophomore Madison Mader's goal in the 62nd minute broke a scoreless battle and proved to be the game-winner in Rio Hondo College's narrow 1-0 victory at Pasadena City College on Tuesday.

The South Coast Conference North Division win was their fifth in a row and improved the Roadrunners to 7-2-1 overall. Rio Hondo remains undefeated in SCC North play at 4-0.

The contest was close throughout with offensive opportunities limited for both teams. Rio Hondo went on to outshoot Pasadena (6-3-2, 0-3-1 SCC) by a close 10-8 margin.

But in the 62nd, Mader combined with Emma Contreras on some nifty give-and-go passing in the Pasadena penalty box. Mader was able to place her shot past PCC goalkeeper Lily Urumieh for the game's lone score while the Roadrunner defense did its part to keep the Lancers off the board.

Izella Delgadillo posted three saves in goal for Rio Hondo to help the Roadrunners secure their second consecutive shutout and fourth overall this season.

Rio Hondo returns to action on Friday (Oct. 13) at 4 p.m. when the Roadrunners travel to face Compton College in a SCC interdivision game.
