Women's Soccer: Four-goal second half leads Rio Hondo to win
Sophomore Erika Lizarraga scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Rio Hondo College women's soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 4-1 non-conference win at Santa Monica College on Friday.

Sophomore Erika Lizarraga scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Rio Hondo College women's soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 4-1 non-conference win at Santa Monica College on Friday.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes on Friday, the Rio Hondo offense came finally came alive in the second half. Lizarraga scored the first of consecutive goals in the 55th minute thanks to the assist from Viviana Viramontes. Lizarraga then extended Rio Hondo's lead with second goal off the assist from Madison Mader in the 62nd minute.
Santa Monica (3-5-1 overall) finally got on the scoreboard in the 75th minute with a goal scored by Kirsten Ortega. But the Roadrunners responded with goals by Daisy Gallegos in the 82nd and Emma Contreras in the 90th minutes to close out the rout.
Jenny Garcia earned the win in goal for Rio Hondo and totaled two saves.
Rio Hondo is unbeaten at 4-0-2 overall as the Roadrunners head into South Coast Conference North Division play next Friday (Sep. 30) at East Los Angeles College. Rio Hondo tore through its non-conference opponents this fall, outscoring them by a combined 14-4 margin.
