Roadrunners finish fourth at ELAC Brawl
MONTEREY PARK – Led by a first-place finish by Steven Ceja, Rio Hondo College took fourth place out of 11 teams at the ELAC Brawl on Saturday. The tournament was hosted by East Los Angeles College.
Ceja went 3-0 on his way to taking first place at the 174-pound weight class. In the championship final, Ceja won by a 16-3 major decision over Giancarlo Tolentino of Palomar.
Jaremiah Juarez (197) and Julian Bilezikjian (285) both reached the finals of their weight classes but ultimately lost in the finals to finish in second place.
Larry Cruz also took fourth place at 149.
Up next for Rio Hondo is the Southern California Regional Championships on Dec. 17 at East Los Angeles College. The Roadrunners will be looking to qualify for the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 13-14 at Lemoore College.
