MONTEREY PARK – Rio Hondo College is advancing a program-record 11 to next week's state championships following an impressive day at the Southern California Regional Championships on Saturday at East Los Angeles College.

Led by a third-place finish at 125 pounds by sophomore Alexis Tellez, Rio Hondo totaled 119 team points to finish in sixth place at the Southern California Championships.

Placing at SoCals and advancing are:

165lbs: Anthony Yerena 8th
174lbs: Anthony Hidalgo 7th

197lbs: Ricardo Cardona 7th
285lbs: Emitt Mercado 5th, Thomas Phillips 8th
