Thanks to three top-eight individual finishes, Rio Hondo College wrapped up the 2016 season by taking 13th place in the final team standings at the California Community College Athletic Association Wrestling State Championship.

Lead by another strong showing by freshman Andrew Ramos, Rio Hondo College placed three wrestlers in the top six in their respective weight classes on its way to an 11th-place team finish at the Methead Movers Tournament at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo on Saturday.

Led by by freshman Jacob Alcobendas' first-place showing at 165 pounds, Rio Hondo College went on to earn a seventh-place finish out of 14 teams at the Mike Tamana Invitational at Modesto Junior College on Saturday.

Freshman Andrew Ramos finished second individually while freshman Jacob Alcobendas was fourth to help lead the Rio Hondo College wrestling team to a ninth-place team finish at the Santa Ana College Tournament on Saturday.

Rio Hondo College totaled 42 points to finish in 11th place out of 18 teams at the highly competitive West Hills College Invitational in Lemoore on Saturday. Leading the way for the Roadrunners were freshmen Andrew Ramos and Richard Sanjenis who both placed individually at the 197-pound division.
