WHITTIER – Alexia Valencia and Jaden Hill-Massarotti both scored 23 points each to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 75-52 South Coast Conference North Division win over visiting Pasadena City College on Friday.
The victory improved the Roadrunners to 10-13 overall and 1-2 in the SCC North. Rio Hondo has won three of its last five games.
The Roadrunners got off to a solid start as they used a 13-4 run to close out the first quarter and take an 18-9 lead. Rio Hondo outscored the Lancers 44-28 over the second half to secure the victory.
Brooklyn Romero added 12 points and 5 assists. MaryJane Contreras was big underneath with 14 rebounds while Hesma Valdes contributed 10 boards and 2 points.
Rio Hondo will look to keep the momentum going when it travels to Los Angeles Trade-Tech College for a 5 p.m. SCC North Division game.
