Women’s Basketball: Rio Hondo closes season with loss to Pasadena

The 2017-18 Rio Hondo College women's basketball season came to a close following the Roadrunners' 76-50 South Coast Conference North Division loss to visiting Pasadena City College on Friday.

Pasadena (17-13, 5-5 SCC) jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first quarter and never allowed the Roadrunners back into the game. PCC led 47-24 at halftime.

Emily Mercedes had a standout game for Rio Hondo as she totaled 14 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Maggie Lamas also scored 14 points while Denae Alvarez came off the bench to score eight points.

Destinee Garr also played well with a team-best nine assists to go with six rebounds, and four points.

Under first-year head coach Rene Herrera, the Roadrunners compiled a 4-24 overall record and went 0-10 in SCC North Division play.
