VALLEY GLEN --- Kaylie Cervantes drove in a pair of runs while Ashley Bravo had three hits to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 5-1 victory at Los Angeles Valley College on Monday.

The Roadrunners won their third straight game to improve to 8-3 overall.

After three scoreless innings by both teams, LA Valley finally got a run in the bottom of the fourth to take a narrow 1-0 advantage. But the Roadrunners responded with two runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Cervantes' RBI-single scored Bravo to get Rio Hondo on the board and Heaven Wolf put the Roadrunners ahead with a double to drive in Cervantes.

Bravo went a perfect 3 for 3 with an RBI and run to lead the Roadrunners at the plate and Cervantes was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and run. Rio Hondo got two hits each from Wolf (2 for 4, RBI), Nadine Marquez (2 for 4), and Leilani Martinez (2 for 4).

Starter Clarissa Evangelista and Lourdes Soria both pitched well in the circle for the Roadrunners. Evangelista went four innings, allowing a run and three hits while Soria earned the win in relief, tossing the final three innings and striking out five.

Rio Hondo returns to South Coast Conference action on Thursday (Feb. 24) when the Roadrunners travel to Pasadena City College for a 2 p.m. game.
