A tough early-season stretch continues for the Rio Hondo College softball team as the Roadrunners suffered a pair of losses in Glendora on Friday. Rio Hondo was edged 11-7 by Mt. San Jacinto College and then suffered a 13-3 loss to host Citrus to close the day's action.

The Roadrunners, now 3-6-1 overall, will look to snap their four-game losing streak on Tuesday (Feb. 13) when they host Compton College in a 3 p.m. South Coast Conference interdivision game.

Mt. San Jacinto 11, Rio Hondo 7
Rio Hondo jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first to greet MSJC pitcher Alexis Holler. Taylor Alcala had the big blow in the inning, a two-run double that scored Maria Enriquez and Victoria Medina.

With Rio Hondo up 4-3, Mt. San Jacinto went ahead for good with four runs in the fourth inning.

Enriquez and Medina both went 2 for 4 to lead Rio Hondo at the plate while Alcala and Alize Lopez both drove in two runs.

Victoria Salinas took the loss in relief of Alcala. Salinas allowed four runs (two earned) and five hits over 1 2/3 innings.

Citrus 13, Rio Hondo 3
Rio Hondo once again jumped out in front early before falling in five innings to the Owls. The Roadrunners scored a run in the first and added two more in the second to go up 3-0. But Citrus responded with a seven-run, third-inning and put the mercy rule into effect with six runs in the fourth.

Taylor Rodriguez went 2 for 3 and scored two runs Enriquez went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI to lead Rio Hondo.

Lopez opened the contest in the circle for Rio Hondo with two scoreless innings before allowing nine earned runs over the final two frames in the complete-game effort.
