Softball: Martinez, Rodriguez earn All-South Coast Conference honors
Following the close of the 2017 Rio Hondo College softball season, sophomore Brenae Martinez and freshman second baseman Tiana Rodriguez were both named to the All-South Coast Conference postseason team.
Following the close of the 2017 Rio Hondo College softball season, sophomore Brenae Martinez and freshman second baseman Tiana Rodriguez were both named to the All-South Coast Conference postseason team. Martinez earned second team honors while Rodriguez was a honorable mention selection.
Martinez was one of the most durable pitchers in the state this past season as her 37 appearances and 205 2/3 innings led all of Southern California. For the season, she totaled nine wins and tossed 23 complete games.
Rodriguez was the Roadrunners' primary leadoff hitter and compiled a .315 batting average. She led Rio Hondo with six doubles and 13 walks while scoring 17 runs on the season.
Rio Hondo recently wrapped up a tough 2017 season and went 10-29 overall. In their first year as a member of the South Coast Conference, the Roadrunners finished tied for third place in the SCC North Division at 3-9.
