Rio Hondo College traveled to face future South Coast Conference opponent El Camino College and suffered a 9-1 loss in six innings on Friday. The non-conference defeat dropped the Roadrunners to 11-19 overall.

Rio Hondo scored the first run of the ball game to take an early 1-0 lead. Elaine Verdugo doubled to lead off the contest and promptly came in to score on a single by Esthefany Martinez and El Camino error. But that would be all for the Roadrunners. Rio Hondo managed just three more hits for the rest of the game.

El Camino (19-11) tied up the game with a run in the bottom of the first and went ahead for good with three runs in the second.

Brenae Martinez took the loss to fall to 10-16 overall. She allowed five earned runs and 12 hits over 5 2/3 innings. Esthefany Martinez went 2 for 3 to lead Rio Hondo at the plate.

The Roadrunners returns to action on Saturday (Apr. 2) when they will compete at the Ventura Tournament.
