TORRANCE – Rio Hondo College sophomore Fabian De La Rosa has qualified for the 2022 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events following his impressive performances at the two-day Southern California Regional Championships over the weekend at El Camino College.

De La Rosa, originally out of Buena Park High School, opened the event on Friday with a sixth-place finish in the 3-meter dive. His score of 139.85 points also earned him a third-place showing among South Coast Conference competitors.

He followed that up on Saturday by taking fifth place in the 1-meter dive with his score of 155.20 points. That mark was good for second place in the South Coast Conference standings.

The top eight divers in each event qualified for the State Championships that will be held on May 5-7 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park.

The South Coast Conference Championships for swimming events is up next for the Roadrunners and is scheduled for April 21-23, also at East Los Angeles College.
