Men's Swimming: Foster leads Rio Hondo to ninth at Chaffey Invitational

Jeremy Foster totaled four top-10 finishes to lead the Rio Hondo College Men's Swimming & Diving team to a ninth-place finish at the Chaffey College Invitational. With just seven individuals at the meet, the Roadrunners scored 159 points to finish just five points back of Southwestern College in eighth.

Foster earned 56 points on his own, including 17 points for his second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. He clocked in at 4:57.22 in the 500 freestyle for the Roadrunners top placing. Foster was also third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.47) and 100-yard freestyle (50.41). In the 100-yard backstroke, he took 10th place with a time of 1:04.30.

Elyas Yepez also had a good weekend for Rio Hondo. He swam 1:52.91 in the 200-yard freestyle for sixth place and also finished 10th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.85. Yepez also added an eight-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.72) and 10th-place showing in the 50-yard freestyle (23.85).

Rio Hondo is back in action on Friday (Mar. 18) when the Roadrunners travel to East Los Angeles College to take on Mt. San Antonio College and host ELAC in South Coast Conference dual meets.
