Sophomore goalkeeper Jesus Rendon posted five saves in goal but the Rio Hondo College offense couldn’t find the back of the net as the Roadrunners opened the 2018 season with a scoreless draw against visiting Clovis Community College on Monday in Whittier.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jesus Rendon posted five saves in goal but the Rio Hondo College offense couldn't find the back of the net as the Roadrunners opened the 2018 season with a scoreless draw against visiting Clovis Community College on Monday in Whittier.
Rio Hondo's defensive back line of Brian Martinez, Maxwell Rodriguez, Alfredo Gutierrez, and Joseph Fuentes was also outstanding as they combined with Rendon to post the shutout.
The Roadrunners outshot Clovis by a 10-5 margin and put six shots on goal.
Rio Hondo returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 28) when the Roadrunners host Irvine Valley College. The match is the second of six straight games at home in Whittier for Rio Hondo.
