Men's Soccer: Knapp, Paredes lead Rio Hondo to 3-0 win at Harbor

Sophomore Nicholas Knapp scored two goals while freshman Jose Paredes had four saves in goal to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 3-0 South Coast Conference interdivision win at Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington on Tuesday.

Rio Hondo is unbeaten over its last eight games, all against South Coast Conference opponents, and improved to 8-2-6 overall with the crossover win at Harbor while the Seahawks dropped to 5-9-2.

Freshman Andrew Gomez also played well for Rio Hondo. His goal in the 12th minute gave the Roadrunners an early 1-0 lead the held all the way until halftime.

In the second, Knapp broke free for a goal in the 54th minute thanks to the assist from Sergio Ramos. And in the 60th minute, Gomez set up Knapp's second goal to close out the game's scoring.

Paredes excellent effort in goal helped lead Rio Hondo to its second straight shutout and eighth overall this season. Juan Monroy faced seven Rio Hondo shots on goal and came up with four saves in the loss for Harbor.

Rio Hondo returns to action on Friday (Oct. 28) when the Roadrunners take the short trip up the 605 to Cerritos College for a 4 p.m. SCC interdivision game.
