Men's Soccer: Rio Hondo gets third straight shutout, beat OCC 2-0

After a slow start to the season, the Rio Hondo College men's soccer team is starting to put it all together as the Roadrunners rolled to a 2-0 non-conference win over visiting Orange Coast College on Wednesday in Whittier.

Rio Hondo is unbeaten in its last three games with three consecutive shutouts and has improved to 2-1-2 overall.

This time is was freshman Jose Paredes' turn to lead the Roadrunners' defense. He needed to make just three saves on the night in earning his second shutout of the year.

 After a scoreless first half, the Roadrunners offense came alive in the second. Angel Flores broke free for his second goal of the season off the assist from Jefferson Cluggy-Soto. His goal in the 65th minute proved to be the game-winner while Kristopher Morgan's goal off the assist from Hector Munoz in the 75th secured the victory.

Rio Hondo hosts the second of three straight home games on Tuesday (Sep. 13) when the Roadrunners take on Irvine Valley College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
