NORWALK – Dorian Tate earned a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead Rio Hondo College in an 89-58 South Coast Conference interdivision loss at Cerritos College on Wednesday night.
The Roadrunners led early in the contest but with only six players suited up for the game, couldn't keep up with a deep Cerritos roster.
Rio Hondo was up 17-13 and held a 22-19 advantage after a layup from Tate at the 8:09 mark in the first. But the Falcons responded with a 12-4 run and went on to hold a commanding 43-28 lead at halftime.
Jordan Peterson added 12 points and 4 rebounds while Nate Carter contributed 8 points and 7 boards.
Rio Hondo dropped to 1-17 overall on the season. The Roadrunners are back in action next Wednesday (Jan. 22) at 7 p.m. when they open South Coast Conference North Division play at home against Mt. San Antonio College.
