Men’s Basketball: Roadrunners doubled up by No. 3 Cerritos

Elijah McElroy led Rio Hondo College with 13 points and 6 assists but the Roadrunners were overmatched once again after facing their second consecutive top-10 state-ranked opponent. The Roadrunners couldn't keep up with No. 3 Cerritos College and suffered a 102-50 South Coast Conference interdivision loss at home on Friday night.

Cerritos jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead and was up by 18 points (38-20) with six minutes to go in the first half. Rio Hondo was down 52-28 at the break and never had a chance to get back into the game.

The Roadrunners once again suited up just six players for the game. Four of those scored in double figures. Kevin Sandoval added 12 points, Jonathan Martinez put in 11, and Bryant Howing totaled 10.

Rio Hondo, now 3-13 overall, will look to snap its five-game losing on Wednesday (Jan. 16) when the Roadrunners host El Camino College in a 6 p.m. SCC crossover game.
