Men’s Basketball: Roadrunners rally in second half for win at Pasadena

Rio Hondo College sophomore Alexis Baron scored five of his seven points over the final 1:39 of the contest as the Roadrunners overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Pasadena City College by a final score of 63-59 at PCC on Wednesday night.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Roadrunners and improved Rio Hondo to 5-15 overall and 2-3 in SCC North play.

Rio Hondo trailed 35-33 at halftime before rallying to go ahead late. Baron's free throw with 1:39 left to play broke a 57-57 tie. His layup with 52 seconds remaining extended Rio Hondo's lead to 60-57 and proved to secure the win for the Roadrunners.

Anthony Rios led Rio Hondo with 20 points while Kenyatta Louder posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Jonathan Martinez also had a good game with 10 points, three rebounds, and two steals.

Rio Hondo will look to keep the momentum going on Friday (Jan. 2) when the Roadrunners travel to LA Trade-Tech College for a 7 p.m. SCC North Division game.
