Sophomore Justin Elliott posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists while sophomore Leo Maidana had a team-high 18 points in a 69-68 loss at Barstow College on Saturday in both teams' Foothill Conference opener.

The loss dropped Rio Hondo to 7-13 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

The Roadrunners shot 51 percent from the field, but an even more impressive 62 percent from three-point range. Sophomore Preston Sachs made 4 of 5 three-pointers on his way to 17 points while sophomore Joaquin Zavala shot 3 for 4 from long distance for nine points.

Rio Hondo will look to snap a five-game losing streak on Wednesday (Jan. 13) when the Roadrunners travel to Chaffey College for a 7 p.m. conference game.
