Roadrunners complete three-game SCC sweep of LA Harbor

WILMINGTON – Sophomore Ryan Duron went 4 for 6 with a home run and 6 RBI to help lead Rio Hondo College to a big 17-2 win at Los Angeles Harbor College on Saturday to close out a three-game South Coast Conference series sweep.
Duron's three-run blast in the bottom of the second inning was one of three hit by the Roadrunners in the contest. Izaak Fernandez also smashed a three-run homer in the third and Michael Salcedo went yard for a solo shot in the eighth.
Rio Hondo totaled 18 hits in the contest, just one off its season high. Wes Pendleton (3 for 4, 2 RBI) and Anthony Guzman (3 for 5, 2B) were also solid at the plate.
Dominic Elias turned in one of his finest starts of the season. He picked up the win after going 6 innings while allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. E.J. Feliz (1 inning) and Dominic Del hoyo (2 inn.) closed out the game with scoreless relief.
With the win, Rio Hondo improved to 8-26 overall and 6-12 in South Coast Conference play. The Roadrunners are back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 15) at 2 p.m. when they open a three-game SCC series at home against Cerritos College.
