Rio Hondo College freshman Ricky Akles was recently named to the All-South Coast Conference North Division baseball team following a standout opening season with the Roadrunners.

Akles, an outfielder from La Habra High School, was honored as a second-team All-SCC selection. He posted team-highs for Rio Hondo with a .336 batting average, 49 hits, 25 runs, 26 RBI, and 5 stolen bases.

He also excelled on the field and played nearly flawless defense on the season. In 70 total chances, Akles made just one error and had 6 outfield assists.

Akles was the lone postseason honoree for the Roadrunners during a tough season. Rio Hondo went 10-25 overall and was 6-16 in South Coast Conference action.
