Baseball: Roadrunners swept by Pasadena City

It was another tough loss for Rio Hondo College on Saturday against the visiting Pasadena City College Lancers. The Roadrunners were shutout for the second straight game and suffered a 12-0 loss to close out a disappointing three-loss South Coast Conference series to PCC.

No. 16 state-ranked Pasadena got to Rio Hondo starting pitcher Andy Garcia early, posting three quick runs in the top of the first and two more in the second to put the game out of reach.

The Roadrunners totaled just four hits in the contest, getting a pair of singles from Ricky Akles (2-for-4).

Garcia took the loss after allowing four earned runs and six hits over two innings.

Rio Hondo, now 8-17 overall and 4-10 in the SCC, will look to snap a season-long six-game losing streak on Tuesday (Apr. 2) when the Roadrunners begin another three-game South Coast Conference series against Los Angeles Harbor College. Game 1 is set for 2:30 p.m. in Whittier.
