Baseball: Aguilar, Rocha power Rio Hondo to win at Hancock

Rio Hondo jumped on Hancock pitcher Zach Torra early, scoring three runs in the top of the first to go ahead from the start. Aguilar drove in a pair with a double and came in to score on Marc Salcido's single.
Hancock tied it up with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the third, but the Roadrunners went ahead for good after rallying for five runs in the fourth.
Rio Hondo totaled a season-high 17 hits in the contest. Besides Aguilar's four-hit effort, Marco Rivas went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI while Aiden Gutierrez also collected three hits. Salcido launched a solo home run in the fifth and totaled 2 RBI.
R.J. Van picked up the win after allowing four earned runs and nine hits over five innings. Edmundo Fernandez closed out the game with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the save.
Rio Hondo returns to action on Thursday (Feb. 15) when the Roadrunners host Merced College in a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
