The Rio Hondo College Roadrunners have received the No. 14 seed and will travel to face the No. 3-seeded Golden West College Rustlers in a best-of-three opening-round series of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Game 1 is set for Friday (May 6) at 2 p.m. at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. with a third game if necessary to follow 30 minutes after. Tickets to the California Community College Athletic Association postseason event cost $12 for general admission and $8 for students, faculty, staff, senior citizens (60+), and children.

The Roadrunners enter the postseason with a 24-12 overall record and finished second in the Foothill Conference with a 19-5 mark. Rio Hondo is one of the hottest teams in the state having won 13 of their last 14 games. Under head coach Mike Salazar, the Roadrunners are making their 12th consecutive postseason appearance in 2016.

Golden West finished tied for second place in the Orange Empire Conference at 12-9 and is 23-13 overall heading into the playoffs. The Rustlers are in the SoCal playoffs for the second straight season under head coach Bert Villarreal.

A series victory would advance the Roadrunners to the Super Regionals on May 13-15.
