Beach Volleyball: Roadrunners pick up pair of opening-day victories

TORRANCE – The 2023 Rio Hondo College women's beach volleyball season got off to an impressive start as the Roadrunners won both its opening-day matches on Friday at El Camino College. Rio Hondo began the morning with a 5-0 sweep of Santa Monica College and followed that with a 4-1 victory over Moorpark College.

Rio Hondo's No. 2 team of Madison Mader/Jade Fuentes, No. 3 duo of Faith Wada/Denisse Sanchez, and No. 5 squad of Daniela Sanchez/Maleia Petterez did not lose a set during the day's action and won both matches by 2-0 scores.

The Roadrunners, now 2-0, are back in action next Friday (Feb. 10) when they will take on San Diego City College and Santa Ana College in a pair of non-conference matches at the Newland Courts in Huntington Beach.
