SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET

After a one-year absence, the Rio Hondo College women's soccer team is back in the postseason.

On Tuesday, the Roadrunners were named the No. 12 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. Rio Hondo will hit the road to take on No. 5-seed Santa Barbara City College for a first-round game on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

Rio Hondo enters the postseason with a 9-5-5 overall record. Under head coach Will Lopez, the Roadrunners compiled a 4-3-2 mark in the South Coast Conference North Division to finish in third place.

Prior last year, the Roadrunners had reached the playoffs in six consecutive seasons. Rio Hondo is looking to return to the state championships for the first time since 2015.

Santa Barbara recently wrapped up the regular season at 10-3-7 overall. The Vaqueros finished third in the Western State Conference North Division with a 6-1-5 record.

Rio Hondo and Santa Barbara will be meeting for the first time on Saturday. The winner of the contest will take on either No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College or No. 13 Pasadena City College on Tuesday (Nov. 21) in a second-round regional playoff game.

Three wins are needed by the Roadrunners to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 1 & 3 at Mt. SAC in Walnut.
