Women’s Soccer: Macias hat trick leads No. 5 Rio Hondo to 9-0 rout at East LA

Freshman Alexis Macias posted her seventh hat trick of the season while the No. 5 state-ranked Rio Hondo College women's soccer team surged to its ninth straight win, a 9-0 victory at East Los Angeles College on Thursday.

The Roadrunners head into their regular-season finale with a showdown against No. 12 Mt. San Antonio College. Rio Hondo leads the South Coast Conference North Division standings with a 7-0 record and Mt. SAC in second at 6-0-1. Rio Hondo is now 13-1 overall and has outscored its opponents 24-1 over its last four games.

Macias' goal scoring streak is now at 14 games as she has scored at least once in every contest this season for the Roadrunners. Her three goals on Thursday against East Los Angeles extended her state-leading goal total to 30 and also leads the state with 71 points.

Rio Hondo wasted little time on Thursday, scoring three goals over the first eight minutes of the game, including a pair from Macias. The Roadrunners got single goals from Camila Garcia, Raeanne Jones, Ashley Vera, Jackie Marin, Aunisa Morales, and Serenity Zamora.

Jackie Marin had an easy time in goal for Rio Hondo and posted the squad's sixth shutout of the year.

Rio Hondo and Mt. SAC will meet up on Tuesday (Nov. 2) at 5 p.m. in Whittier to close out the regular season.
