Beach Volleyball: Roadrunners cruise to sweep of Desert

LONG BEACH – The Rio Hondo College women's beach volleyball team picked up its second South Coast Conference victory of the season thanks to a 5-0 sweep of visiting College of the Desert at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach.

The Roadrunners improved to 11-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Rio Hondo lost just one set over the five pairs matches. The No. 1 duo Jaida Zuniga and Jade Fuentes was pushed to three sets but prevailed by scores of 21-18, 9-21, 15-11.

The Roadrunners will look to push their winning streak to four when they travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday (Mar. 27) for a pair of South Coast Conference matches against host Mt. SAC and Cerritos College.
