TORRANCE – The 2024 Rio Hondo College women's beach volleyball season got off to an impressive start as the Roadrunners dominated the competition in consecutive 5-0 victories over Fullerton College and Cuesta College on Friday at the El Camino College sand courts.

The Roadrunners look to improve on last year's opening that saw them begin the season with nine consecutive victories.

On Friday, the Roadrunners did not lose a set over the nine pairs matches they competed in (one win by forfeit).

Rio Hondo's No. 1 pairs team of Jaida Zuniga and Jade Fuentes as well as the No. 2 duo of Maria Bejines and Maleia Petterez set the tone with two dominant wins.

Rio Hondo, now 2-0, returns to action next Friday (Feb. 2) when the Roadrunners host Moorpark College in a 10 a.m. match at El Camino College.
