Beach Volleyball: Roadrunners set for SoCal Regionals, Oronoz/Lee finish 8th at SCC Tournament

The Rio Hondo College women's beach volleyball team is ready for the postseason.

Following a program-best 15-4 overall record during the regular season, the Roadrunners have qualified for the Southern California Regional team tournament for the first time in school history.

Rio Hondo is headed to a three-team regional tournament along with host Orange Coast College and Irvine Valley College with a spot at the state championships on the line. The teams are set to compete on Tuesday, May 2 at the Newland Courts in Huntington Beach. Orange Coast will face Irvine Valley at 10:00 a.m., followed by Rio Hondo vs. IVC with Rio Hondo taking on OCC to close out the event.

The CCCAA State Championships team tournament is scheduled for May 11 at West Valley College in Saratoga.

The Roadrunners were recently in action at the South Coast Conference Pairs Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Rio Hondo's top duo of Nadine Oronoz and Faith Lee advanced to the quarterfinals but had their season come to an end with consecutive losses.

The Rio Hondo doubles teams of Madison Mader/Denisse Sanchez and Faith Wada/Jade Fuentes also picked up opening-round victories at the event.
