Ivy Chew
Title: Assistant Coach

Coach Ivy Chew is entering her fourth year with the Lady Roadrunners in 2023. She played for Rio Hondo under Coach Esko in 2008 as an outside/opposite hitter. Prior to Rio Hondo, Chew was a multi-sport athlete at Mark Keppel High School, competing in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  She was team captain of her high school volleyball team for three years.

Chew started her coaching career at her alma mater Keppel in 2007 as the JV girl's coach. In 2010, she moved over to Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary and coached two years as the head Frosh/Soph coach, leading the team to an undefeated season. She prepared 90 percent of that squad to play on the varsity team after their season.   Coach Chew has been the head varsity coach at Lincoln High School and East Valley High School (girl's and boy's).  She led the boys East Valley team to the school's first CIF playoff appearance.  In 2016, she made school history by leading the girls to their first ever CIF Finals. Following that season, she was named the LA City Section Coach of the Year.

Coach Chew has been the head varsity boy's coach at South Pasadena High School since 2016.  She has led the boys to five consecutive league championships. In 2018, she took over the South Pasadena girl's volleyball program. Within her two years of coaching the girls, she has led the program to two CIF semifinals, a CIF State Regional Finals appearance, and the CIF State Finals.  Chew was honored with the San Gabriel Valley area 2019 Coach of the Year.  She is currently entering her sixth year with South Pasadena and is hoping to continue to build the winning tradition in her program. Aside from coaching at Rio and South Pasadena, she is also the Head Coach for both girl's and boy's volleyball club at Crown City Sports Academy (formerly named Forza1 West) in Pasadena. For Forza1 West’s last year, she was able to help lead her 16s boys to the podium at National and brought back home the bronze medal. Nationals is  where they competed against other teams in the nation.
