Women’s Volleyball: No. 5 El Camino too much for Roadrunners

Coming off a marathon five-set win over Cerritos on Friday, the Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team couldn't keep the momentum going. On Wednesday, the Roadrunners suffered a three-set loss at No. 5 state-ranked El Camino College.

Rio Hondo dropped the South Coast Conference interdivision match by scores of 25-14, 25-17, and 25-13 to fall to 5-13 overall. El Camino improved to 16-2.

The Roadrunners couldn't get much going offensively. Danielle Betancourt, Jordan Midyette, Stephanie Perez, Sierra Smethurst, and Mara Sanchez all had 3 kills each to lead Rio Hondo.

Janine Coria had a team-best 11 digs, Sanchez added 10 digs, and Aliah Trujillo posted 11 assists.

Rio Hondo will look to get back on track this Friday (Oct. 26) when the Roadrunners travel to LA Trade-Tech College for a 6 p.m. SCC crossover match.
