SOCAL PLAYOFFS BRACKET

The Rio Hondo College men's soccer team is back in the postseason for the first time since 2018. On Monday, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) released the bracket for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The Roadrunners received the No. 11 seed and will host No. 22 MiraCosta College in a first-round playoff game on Wednesday (Nov. 16) at 6:00 p.m.

Ticket prices for the CCCAA postseason game at the Rio Hondo College Soccer Complex are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. Children 5 and under are free.

Rio Hondo, under head coach Orlando Brenes, enter the playoffs with an 11-9-3 overall record and were co-champions of the South Coast Conference North Division with a 5-3-1 mark. It was the Roadrunners' first conference title since claiming a Foothill Conference championship in 2013.

MiraCosta went 9-1-2 to win the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title and are 9-7-4 overall. The two squads met earlier this season playing to a scoreless tie at MiraCosta on Sep. 10.

The winner of Wednesday's contest advances to Round 2 and will play at No. 6 Long Beach City College on Saturday (Nov. 19). Four wins are needed by Rio Hondo to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
